Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026.

Point of AI ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect when you visit pointofai.com, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have. It is deliberately specific: rather than list everything a website could collect, it describes what this site actually does.

The short version

  • We have no user accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for and no password to lose.
  • We take no payments and never see card details.
  • The only personal data you can give us is an email address, for the newsletter.
  • Analytics load only if you accept them. Reject and none run.
  • We do not sell or share personal information, and we run no advertising.

What we collect

Stored in your browser

Two values, both in local storage, neither sent to us and neither identifying you:

  • theme: your light or dark preference.
  • poai-cookie-consent: your cookie choice and its date.

Analytics, only with your consent

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, referring site, and time of visit. It runs with IP anonymisation and reports in aggregate. If you reject or ignore the banner, the script is never requested and none of this is collected. Full detail is in our Cookie Policy.

Newsletter

If you subscribe we store your email address, the page you subscribed from, a random confirmation token, and the dates you subscribed and confirmed. We use double opt-in, so an address does nothing until you click the link in the confirmation email. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe.

Email you send us

If you email us, we hold that message and your address for as long as needed to deal with it. Our contact page is an email address rather than a form, so nothing is submitted to or stored on this website.

What we never collect

We do not track which tools you click, build advertising profiles, run ad networks, use social media tracking pixels, or record reviews, ratings or submissions. The site is static and has no login.

Why we are allowed to process it (legal bases)

  • Consent: analytics cookies and newsletter emails. You may withdraw it at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: keeping the site secure and available, and replying when you contact us.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe, after which we retain only what is needed to honour that request.
  • Unconfirmed signups: removed if never confirmed.
  • Analytics: retained by Google under its own schedule; we hold no raw copy.
  • Browser values: until you clear your browser data. They are on your device, not ours.

Who else is involved

  • Railway: hosting and the newsletter database.
  • Google Analytics: only after consent.
  • Our email provider: sends newsletter and confirmation emails.

These providers act on our instructions. Some may process data outside your country; where that happens it relies on the safeguards those providers maintain, such as standard contractual clauses. We do not sell personal information, and we share it only where necessary to run the service or where the law requires it.

Third-party links

Our articles and tool pages link to services run by other companies, some through affiliate links (see our Affiliate Disclosure). Once you follow such a link, that company's privacy practices apply, not ours. Please read theirs before entering personal or confidential data. This matters especially with AI tools, where your input may be used for training.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, have it deleted, receive it in a portable format, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Because we hold so little, most requests resolve quickly:

  • Newsletter: use the unsubscribe link, or ask us and we will delete the record.
  • Analytics consent: clear this site's data in your browser to be asked again.
  • Anything else: email us.

We aim to respond within 30 days. If you are in the UK or EU and are unhappy with our response, you may complain to your national data protection authority.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. It is statically generated, so there is no database or admin login exposed to the public internet, which removes a large class of attacks entirely. The newsletter service accepts signups but never reads the list back out over the web.

Children

This site is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the site or the law. The date above always shows the current version, and material changes will be signalled on the site.
